Katrin Maria Schips

Shiatsu Practitioner

Shiatsu is a form of bodywork with its origins in Japan. "Shi" means finger, "Atsu" means pressure. The method is based on principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine and aims to harmonize the balance of Yin and Yang and promote the flow of vital energy (Qi).

When Qi can flow freely, we feel more balanced, relaxed and connected to ourselves. The touch is applied mindfully – with hands, thumbs, elbows, or feet. Gentle stretches, rotations and pressure are used – depending on your needs, gently or more firmly.

The calming and harmonizing effect of Shiatsu can relieve symptoms of

  • back, shoulder, or neck pain

  • headaches

  • sleeping  problems

  • stress or inner restlessness

  • exhaustion

About me

Having grown up in a small village in southern Germany, I lived in London and Moscow before arriving in Berlin almost 20 years ago. In London, I worked in the creative field of photography, in Moscow, I discovered the joy of teaching and working with children.

Back in Berlin, I became a primary school teacher and have been working in this profession for over 10 years. However, the desire for more freedom and a more holistic approach to work has grown steadily. During a challenging period in my life, I was introduced to Shiatsu following a friend’s recommendation – an experience that deeply touched me. I began the training and found a new passion. Today, I support people with Shiatsu on their path to greater balance and well-being.
