Frequently Asked Questions
-
Breathwork is a broad term for practices that use conscious breathing to explore the connection between breath, body, emotions and awareness.
Different breathwork approaches use different breathing patterns, pacing and techniques. At Ōsmos, practitioners offer a range of approaches, from Conscious Connected Breathwork and Neuro-Somatic Breathwork to Pranayama and breathwork combined with sound or somatic practices.
-
People explore breathwork for many different reasons, including stress, emotional tension, relaxation, self-awareness, resilience and feeling more connected to their body.
Depending on the approach, breathwork can also create space to explore emotions, bodily sensations and patterns of breathing or stress. Each practitioner works differently, so the experience and intended focus can vary.
-
A breathwork session usually begins with an introduction to the practice and a check-in about what you would like to explore.
You are then guided through specific breathing techniques, which may be combined with music, movement, sound, body awareness or periods of rest and integration.
Sessions can be offered individually or in groups, depending on the practitioner. You will be guided through the process and can ask questions about the practice before beginning.

The breathwork practitioners at Ōsmos use different methods and have different backgrounds.
If you are looking for a particular approach, such as Conscious Connected Breathwork, Neuro-Somatic Breathwork, Pranayama or BioDynamic Breathwork, start by exploring the individual practitioner profiles.
You can also choose based on whether you are looking for a 1:1 or group experience, and whether you are interested in combining breathwork with somatics, psychology, sound or other practices.
