Frequently Asked Questions

Integrative counselling brings together different therapeutic approaches to support the individual needs of each person. Rather than following one fixed method, an integrative counsellor may draw from different psychological, relational, somatic or mindfulness-based approaches depending on what feels appropriate for the person and what they would like to explore.
At Ōsmos, each practitioner has their own training and way of working, so an integrative session can look different from one practitioner to another.
-
People come to integrative counselling for many different reasons, including stress, overwhelm, burnout, anxiety, difficult life transitions, relationship challenges, emotional patterns, self-esteem, personal development and feeling stuck or disconnected.
Some practitioners also combine counseling with body-based practices, breathwork, coaching or other approaches.
The focus of the sessions is shaped around what you are experiencing and what you would like support with.
-
Stress relief coaching focuses on helping you understand and work with patterns that contribute to stress and overwhelm.
Depending on the practitioner, this may include exploring your habits, boundaries, lifestyle, emotional responses, relationships, nervous-system regulation, breath or other factors that influence your wellbeing.
Coaching tends to be more focused on present circumstances, practical change and developing new ways of responding, while counseling may place more emphasis on emotional and psychological exploration. Some practitioners combine both approaches.
-
Counselling and coaching can overlap, but they generally have different focuses.
Counselling often creates space to explore emotions, experiences, relationships and psychological patterns, while coaching is often more focused on present circumstances, goals, choices and creating change.
At Ōsmos, some practitioners combine counseling, coaching and other approaches. Reading their individual profiles can help you understand how each practitioner works.
-
Yes. Some Ōsmos practitioners combine counseling with somatic, body-oriented, breathwork or mindfulness-based practices.
This can involve paying attention to physical sensations, breathing, emotional responses and patterns in the body alongside conversation and reflection.
If you are specifically looking for a body-oriented approach, you can also explore the Ōsmos Somatics practitioners.

Yes.
You do not need to arrive with a clear explanation or diagnosis. Sometimes the starting point is simply knowing that you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected or that something in your life no longer feels right.
Your practitioner can help you explore what is happening and together you can identify what you would like to work on.
-
Start with what you are experiencing and what kind of support you are looking for.
If you are mainly dealing with stress or burnout, look for practitioners who specifically mention stress relief, coaching, breathwork or nervous-system-oriented approaches.
If you want to explore deeper emotional or psychological patterns, an integrative therapist or counsellor may be a better fit.
Read the individual practitioner profiles to learn about their training, areas of focus and approach. If you are still unsure, you can contact a practitioner directly and ask whether their work is suitable for what you are looking for.
